Montague and Associates is a student run, professionally driven organization that has developed future industry leaders and Temple University Alumni for nearly 20 years. The company is managed by Assistant Dean Jeffrey Montague and operated by his two Senior Professional Development Seminar branches in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Seniors with interests in Tourism, Hospitality, Sports, and Recreation Management make up the uniquely diverse population of employees at Montague and Associates. Our shared passion for global integration, community support, and developing interpersonal social intelligence is fostered inside and out of classroom. There are no ceilings or barriers restraining our abilities to grow as students, professionals, and as equals. The Senior Seminar gives each student a chance to start taking themselves a little more seriously, and starts using their skills to prepare for the future.
The classroom is run like a business, and the students are treated like employees. We are all working towards a common goal as individuals and as a company. Our purpose in the service industry is to deliver our superb and memorable service to the public, and the world. Now, as seniors and future Alumni of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, we are here to deliver all of you our genuine and authentic service as your fellow students, peers, and businessmen and women.The world is composed of all walks of life and traditions. As members of Montague and Associates, the Senior Professional Development Seminar, and Temple University, we carry on a tradition that has placed Temple Alumni with careers in nearly 200 countries around the world. We seek to celebrate and share the continuous aging of our family’s roots, our own personal worth, cultural appreciation, and global expansion. This is why our mission is to educate, mentor, and inspire fellow STHM Students and peers to cultivate interpersonal development and global awareness in the class room and in our own everyday lives.

 STHM Senior Seminar Bridge Event

This spring semester of Senior Seminar will be hosting the Bridge Event in which we pass the torch to the future Senior Seminar students. All STHM students expecting to enroll in Senior Professional Development Seminar in the Fall of 2011 are REQUIRED to attend this event. The Bridge Event will give students the opportunity to learn more about Senior Seminar and what will be expected of the class. Please come prepared with questions. The event will take place on Wednesday May 4th, 2011 from 11:00 am to 1:00pm. The event will take place in Alter Hall on the 1st floor in the Undergraduate Commons, also referred to as the Egg. Please come dressed professionally to this event and bring with you: 1) an updated copy of your resume and cover letter, 2) your updated DARS, 3) your graduation plan.

April 15th and 16th were two of the most successful days in the CPR Fundraisers’ history. No seminar class has ever reached the mark of 100 participants within their event. This semester proved to be different! On a whole, the Seminar Class was able to certify 120 people during the two days the fundraiser was run. On top of the record setting participation, each section of Senior Seminar was able to raise $1,000 for the respective classes. The Volunteer and Marketing committees did a great job getting this event running.

The Senior Seminar class owes Mr. Earl Ostrander and his wife thanks for a fun and exciting event. Not only did they keep us entertained, they also conducted a very informative presentation.

This semester’s Senior Seminar will be hosting a CPR and First Aid Certification for anyone wishing to become certified. The CPR Certification covers CPR and First Aid for infants to adults. It also includes Certification for defibrillator use. We will be offering the CPR Certification over the course of two days, giving you the option of choosing whichever date works for you. The dates are: Friday April 15th 5-8pm and Saturday April 16th 10am-1pm. The event will take place in Alter Hall Room A032.

The price is $40 for a 2 year certification. This is over half the cost of the usual prices of other programs.

On Saturday, March 19th the Section 2 Senior Seminar class volunteered in the American Lung Associations‘ Fight For Air Stair Climb. These Stair Climbs usually take place in large skyscrapers or arenas where participants can challenge their own physical fitness, race against others or to meet new friends. These climbs are a great way to support those who have lung disease and also as a remembrance to those who have passed. This volunteer experience is just one of the many each Senior Seminar student will be attending.
