Sustainability Pledge

Support Sustainability Efforts at Temple University

Below is an important message from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management’s Professor Julie Fesenmaier.  Professor Fesenmaier is extremely passionate about student sustainability efforts and encourages all students to consider signing the Temple University Sustainability Pledge.  She is also conducting her own personal survey, which she hopes you will participate in to assist her with her research on attitudes and opinions related to sustainability.  The links to the pledge and the survey can also be found below.

Temple University Office of Sustainability supports our President’s decision to sign the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC).  In doing so, President Hart aligned Temple with more than 600 colleges and universities around the globe that have made reducing their impact on the world’s climate a priority. She said it’s a commitment that the Temple community was ready to make. “Students, faculty and administrative leaders in the last year have shown tremendous enthusiasm for creating an urban university that is sensitive to its impact on the environment,” Hart said.

To support Temple University’s commitment to sustainable best practice, I ask you to sign the sustainability pledge showing how we, the students and faculty are committed to promoting a green campus culture.

Signing the pledge is voluntary; it is completely your choice.  If you feel uncomfortable signing the pledge or do not believe for what it stands, please do not feel obligated. I ask you to do this only if you agree and wish to support the university efforts to protect the health and sustainability of our community and global environment.

For my research on attitudes and opinions related to sustainability, I am conducting a survey to measure student outlook about the stewardship of our natural environment.   Please take a take a few minutes to respond.   Your responses will serve as feedback to how we (as a school) take into consideration the values and attitudes you bring to our program.  Taking the survey is voluntary and completely anonymous.  Your personal responses are private and will not be shared with anyone.
