Presently, Nacomi Mercer is a senior at Temple University majoring in Sport and Recreation Management. As a scholar and professional, she has developed leadership, educational, and organizational skills which have enabled her to work collaboratively in diverse settings. She has gained work experience in the areas of basketball and business operations with the WNBA. Additionally, she has international experience abroad as the Marketing Intern for Barcelona International Water Polo. Also, Nacomi was a Marketing Intern for the Philadelphia Sport Congress and Head Manager for the Temple University’s Women’s Basketball team. Along with her extensive academic background, Nacomi is prepared and eager to bridge the gap between her academic and future work environment while expanding her knowledge of the sport industry.
Treanna is an active sister in Alpha Epsilon Phi, Phi Theta chapter. She is a 2013 LeaderShape graduate and was an On-Site Coordinator for the 2014 and 2015 sessions. Treanna has worked in the hospitality industry since she was 16 years old, predominantly in restaurants and food & beverage establishments. However, she has also volunteered with countless companies and organizations throughout her college career such as The Philadelphia Horticultural Society (PHS), the 76ers, and The Philadelphia Mummers Fest and Fancy Brigade. Treanna completed her junior internship at The Union League of Philadelphia in their activities department where she has been asked to return this fall.
Brian Scarpati is a senior at Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He has over ten years experience in the restaurant industry, as well as extensive management experience in both the retail and service industries. He is a member of the Society Hill Civic Association, The Human Rights Campaign, and The American Hotel and Lodging Association. He completed his junior internship with Mazzoni Center, a nonprofit community health center that serves the LGBTQIA community in Philadelphia. As the Assistant Logistics Coordinator for the 14th Annual Philadelphia Trans Health Conference, he worked in conjunction with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau in order to secure hotel blocks for conference attendees. Additionally, he prepared all of the website text and scheduled social media updates to promote PTHC to potential attendees. In order to pursue a career in hospitality operations, Brian would like to secure a position in a management training program at a large hotel chain for his senior internship.
Matt is from Bala Cynwyd, PA, and was born on March 16th, 1992, to his parents Mark and Mary Ann. He has an older sister, Stephanie, who graduated from Marywood University with a degree in Physical Therapy. Before arriving at Temple University, he attended Lehigh Carbon Community College where he received his Associate’s Degree in Sport Management. Matt has a wealth of experience working and coaching in High School athletics. He also previously interned with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation which was a very valuable experience. Upon completing his degree, Matt hopes to gain a job in college athletics or with a professional basketball organization.
