CEO Jeffrey Montague (Office 1)
Jeffrey Montague is Associate Vice Dean, Emeritus of Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) and has over 25 years of administrative experience in higher education. Since retiring this past spring, he now serves as the Director of Development and Alumni Engagement. A graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, the oldest historically black college/university in America, Montague went on to complete a Master’s Degree at Temple University before joining its administration and its faculty as an instructor.
One of the philosophies Montague has strived to maintain over the years is to make customer service a priority not only to all students, but their families. He believes the ability to provide personal service has a vital place in the academic setting, especially in an age of increased technology. Further, he takes pride in mentoring students in their personal growth as creative thinking and innovation drives our quest to Be The Best.
Montague teaches a Senior Professional Development Seminar class required for graduation from STHM. He also has a professional background in helping students set goals and objectives for themselves, and in perfecting the necessary skills for getting into a productive career. To him, pre-professional development is as important as an impressive grade point average.
Montague challenges himself to stay connected to the student population and alumni, knowing that many graduates give back to Temple/STHM by offering internships and other opportunities to those currently pursuing degrees. As Montague tells his students, “I don’t make friends, I make alumni.”
